The Beer:
Cisco Brewers is a relatively small outfit out of Nantucket. Started in 1995, Cisco is part of a trio of beverage making companies that keep the island of Nantucket fully stocked year round. Today’s test is on their Whale’s Tale Pale Ale, which is an English Style Pale Ale that is “brewed and bottled in small batches to ensure the freshest possible taste”
The Smell:
The beer has a very heavy aroma, with an almost bready smell, and a strong helping of malt. Additionally there are some citrus and floral hints that awaken the nose.
The Taste:
A decidedly malty start makes way for a mild citrusy finish. While the strength and bitterness of the malt may be a little much for some, it keeps the tongue intrigued as it fades away and makes way for the tingly citrus ending. However, the malty taste does linger in the back of the throat after the citrus has gone.
The Feel:
The beer has a great carbonation to it, with a smooth transition between flavors. The carbonation becomes particularly present once the citrus aftertaste comes in, and the pair creates a nice sensation on the tongue.

The Cisco Brewers, Whales Tale Pale Ale is a great choice if you’re looking for something to keep your taste buds on their toes. The strong flavors aren’t necessarily for everyone, but sip this one slowly with a hearty meal in front of you and you’ll be sure to stay interested with its unique and varying flavors.
